Everyone's heard about arthritis, but what you may not know is that a chiropractor can help..

Consider the following information about three forms of arthritis:

  • In more than half the cases the condition simply disappears.
  • In less than a sixth of patients there is severe disability.
  • Growth deformities can be present. Traditional western medicine uses medications and advises patients to treat arthritis with heat, hot packs, and exercises in warm water, etc. Yet, these approaches offer no cures for arthritis, only relief. They don't stop the spread of arthritis. In addition, pain medication used over long periods of time cause serious life threatening problems in the kidneys, liver, heart and other necessary organs. However, left untreated, joints affected by arthritis may deteriorate and require surgery.

How can a chiropractor help with arthritis? Although chiropractic care is not an arthritis treatment, it can prevent arthritis from spreading and from causing more pain. When a spinal vertebra is out of place and puts pressure on the surrounding nerves and tissue it is called a subluxation. This can be an underlying cause of arthritis. The surrounding tissue becomes irritated, swollen, and painful. When a joint is subluxated there is a lack of nutrients flowing to the joint capsules and the body will start to fuse the area. Over time the nerve will become irritated and the joint will no longer function properly. Someone may not even know this is going on because there are no outward or obvious symptoms until one day they have numbness and pain going down there arm. Unfortunately, by this time the degenerative changes cannot be reversed or fixed. Going to a chiropractor to get your spine checked can detect these degenerative changes before they cause problems. That's why it is so important to get children checked!

In addition, nerves going to the shoulder, arms, legs and head can be pinched which compromises communication from the brain and blood flow from the heart. Vertebral subluxations weaken an individual's nervous and immune systems, consequently weakening every function of the body. The result sets the stage for all kinds of sickness, disease, and a decrease in the overall quality of life.

Chiropractors are trained to gently push the vertebra back in place using a series of Chiropractic adjustments allowing the body to heal. The adjustments are so gentle they can be performed on newborn babies.

Chiropractic care allows the body to heal itself. The elimination of subluxations allow the body operate at its best free from nerve interference.

The nervous system controls the functioning of almost every cell, organ and system in an individual's body. It includes the brain, spinal cord and all the nerves in an individual's body.

Chiropractors are experts in the care of nerves, muscles and connective tissues, which make up sixty percent of the body. All of the joints in an individual's body are part of this musculo-skeletal system and its optimal function is necessary for overall good health. Remember ten percent of the body's nerves are associated with pain, so you may have a problem and not even know it because you fell fine! That's why it is so important to get your spinal check up as soon as possible.
